A new winter coat

*Mini rant about the weather*  Seriously!  It is freezing in London at the moment!  My house is always quite hot but last night when I went to bed just I couldn't warm up.  The Actor was out with the boys last night - he always warms the bed up.  I ended up sleeping in a pair of pyjamas, a big cashmere cardigan, socks and a scarf!  I looked like some mad old granny when I woke up this morning.  My friend had been round and said it was going to be minus seven degrees so I'm sure that didn't help.

Recently I wrote about how I fell in love with Rosamund Pike's wardrobe in the film An Education.  Leopard and red are always a great combo and I wanted something similar.  I looked at loads of leopard coats but I know leopard print doesn't really suit me.  I've always fancied a full length faux fur coat so I've been keeping my eye out for something interesting.

I wanted to recreate the look in some way

It looks so stylish on her.  Here's my budget version

I bought this vintage Seventies faux fur coat on Ebay this week

Apparently the leather belt is original

I thought the pattern a little bit different

It has some great colours in the faux fur - you can see it better here.

I know I shouldn't but I also bought one other coat by Astraka, it's quite bonkers, I must blog it next week.

I also bought a silk scarf that's a little bit like an Hermés print for £7

I've never worn scarves like this so I don't really what to do with it!

I have put myself on an economy drive I don't feel bad buying a secondhand coat.  It was £59 which is more than I usually would spend on one item on Ebay but I think it's worth it.  I can fritter that away on absolutely nothing normally.  It's great quality and in lovely condition and it will definitely keep me warm in this weather.

My health kick has gone out the window at the moment.  I'm having delivery pie and mash with liquor tonight!  I do pick most of the pastry off, but still!  It's been a funny old week I'm SO glad it's the weekend.  Have a lovely evening xxx

I know what you mean about finding it difficult to get warm. Even though I live in Spain, the weather at the moment has been freezing! The rain hasn't helped either.

I've never been brave enough to wear leopard print, but I actually prefer your coat, to the one above it.

Oh Christina I like that very much indeed. Chevron patterns are always so deliciously eyecatching.

I slept in pj's, a giant jumper and some woolly socks last night and still didn't wake up warm :( I've been working in an arctic environment all week as well, brrrr!!!

That is a lovely coat Rosamund is wearing - I have still to find a print like this that suits me too. Your version is very cool to keep you very warm. The red scarf looks beautiful with it. I have the same problems with scarfs like these I dont know how to wear them either. I would also love to be able to wear them in my hair too but I have never made that work either.....The weather is driving me bananas. I am in the strangest position that I dont have anyone to post next week - so far. The idea of reverting to old fashion week pictures I never posted before doesnt sit well with me. I like to be in the now. Xxxx

Delivery pie and mash? Oh how I wish I lived in London!!
I know what you mean about the weather too, I have to keep waking my husband up for cuddles to keep me warm. I finally caved in and put the electric blanket on the bed this morning after 2 nights losing sleep.
Lovely coat, I love faux fur. Have a great weekend.

Fabulous coat, Christina. What a find. And I do think it's more stylish than the leopard print - lush yet understated.

Totally agree with you about Rosamund Pike's wardrobe - it was stunning. And love your new purchase although I'd like to know where you keep everything - seems like you'd need a separate house for your wardrobe!!

I can't see how Leopard print wouldnn't suit you, I am sure I would love it on you. Please don't wear a scarf to bed again, it could be fatal!

I love the coat and scarf, great bargains and perfect for this weather. I hate this weather, its too blooming cold I'm usually wrapped up pjs, socks, slippers and a dressing gown too! xx Hope it warms up this weekend! xx

My leopard is an Astraka, too. Posh old ladies always tell me it was the make in vintage faux fur. It's gorgeous and how good it's still got the belt. I feel you'll be living in it, it's too bloody cold. xxx

Love the coat, it is so glam and much more 'you' than leopard print.

We are freezing here too, I have been sleeping in my fluffy robe and wearing the knitted socks that Vix sent me. And we have both electric and gas heating going at the moment, while I wear two jumpers!

We haven't started Camomile Lawn yet, just so busy this week. I feel like everything is getting away from me at the moment, when will things calm down?! xx

Dear Christina, the coat is YOU! Very stylish if you wear it with a rainstone belt... Think Prada... Also the silk scarf has a million uses... Great color very summery.
Hugs. M
Ps I am preparing a post in how to wear an Hermes scarf...

I actually really quite like the coat a lot! I think you should wear it with stilettos and big sunglasses and wrap the scarf around your head like you're from an old movie. That's what I would do, I say go big or go home :)
