John Galliano xxx

For pure Hollywood glamour you cannot beat the spectacle of Dior Haute Couture.  I loved the colours and retro silhouettes inspired by legendary Dior illustrator Rene Gruau.  Showcased at the Musee Rodin the sheer craftsmanship that goes into every one of these pieces is breathtaking.  Stunningly dramatic make-up by Pat McGrath (I loved the red slashed eyebrows) and beautifully elegant hats made to look like the artist's brush strokes by the wonderful Stephen Jones.  Yet another masterpiece show from John.

I feel like digging out some fabulous technicolour Hollywood movies, perfect for a rainy day like today.  What do you think of this collection? xxx

John is amazing! His collection is breath-taking, the models look gorgeous and so...'femme-fatale with lots of glam! I love the 1940s-50s theme going on with the vibrant reds, dark blues, contrasting with the pastels....the voluminous skirts, and the all the tulle & feathers. so dreamy!

The man is pure genius. I love this collection. I love the Haute Couture collections best for their amazing over the topness. The head shot of JuJu is stunning and I love the sassiness of Lindsay Wilson. Xxxx

Oh wow. I would make an exception to my 'vintage only' rule for any of those.

Back on form, Mr Galliano, and not a moment too soon.

I remember clipping photos of one of the 90s Galliano shows for a scrapbook because I was so in love with it. Wish I could find it now but I think it must have got lost in a house move...

Moi aussi, j'adore haute couture. I remember covering the haute couture, it was day and night different from pret-a-porter. One was a circus, the other a sacred ritual. Those invited spoke in whispers.

Christina (!) "My friend Phoebe. . ." I love it. Back in the day I could have said to you, "My friend Karl." We were are friendly (not friends unfortunately) terms, but now that he's a rock star. . .

Really, a camel coat? Really?

My-Reason-For-Living-In-France bought a fab Stella Forrest (did you think for a second I was going to say Stella McCartney?) scarf I've been eyeing for some time. It's the prelude accessory for the famous coat. Oh, love the back story btw.

You are wonderful and SO glam.

xo, Tish

Oooohhh! What a fantastic collection! The dresses are full of drama and femininity. The blue dress with flowers down one side and the yellow one are my favourites.

I love these photos and the outfits are to die-for! I can't decide which look I like the best, which is just as well cos I would be able to wear none of them up the Co-op.

But when my soon-to-be-2nd-drafted novel is sold for the movie rights and I'm needing a little something spectacular, Dior will be my first choice.

*dreams a bit more*

Gorgeous gowns, how fantastic it must be to see a couture show.

Now on to Bags honey, I do love Bags and used to have loads of expensive ones until we hit hard times (yes it happened once before a few years back) I don't like the Dior you mentioned, I have never once lusted after a Dior, they just never do it for me. I know you want me to be honest, so I have been. How much does it retail at? There must be plenty out there in the same price bracket but it wouldn't do for us all to like the same thing would it?

Moi aussi- J'adore... these pieces are intoxicating...so beautifully put together...I love the way Pat McGrath has re-invented the shiny nose and chin with this make-up!
The film you should watch after seeing these pictures is The Women.... xxx

Oh- Wasn't it just the most divine show? God I LOVE him. luv luv luv.
What a sense of fantasy, pageantry and whimsical glamour. Especially now that McQueen is gone (although Sarah Burton's first collection was fantastic) we have so few "Gallianos" left...
